We are pleased to be able to give-away FOUR copies of 52 More Weeks of Family Night: Scripture Study edition! Over the past 18 months, other contributors and I have worked really hard to put together some great Family Home Evening lessons for families with kids of all ages, single adult wards, groups and so on. What you may know from personal experience trying to come up with lessons for your own family-- you will understand how challenging it can be to come up with a different lesson each week that will teach gospel principles (and life principles) that are creative enough to keep the attention from those who are participating in the lesson.
Family Home Evening is a weekly event. It's not that we do it for one year and we've met our goal. I am sure that President Monson still has FHE weekly. So, with trying to be creative in lessons, use great gospel principles that help build character and testimony year after year--- you need all the help you can get!
This is just one reason why I LOVE 52 More Weeks of Family Night: Scripture Study Edition.
The author, Diane Kirkpatrick, has organized 52 (obviously) lessons that cover topics such as obedience, missionary work, tithing, humility, honoring parents, goals and family history to just name a few. I know you're already wanting this book just for those topics, right?! Also, there are scriptures in big bold print that you can print off, hang up for the whole family to work on memorizing during the week.
Not only are there great lessons in the book, but there is also a CD-ROM that is included which contains print outs of activities that go along with each lesson! Even activities I can do with my 3-year-old who loves to "do" something and the lessons are reinforced with the activities. She's already done all the work for you for a YEAR! What's also awesome is that you can add more to the lessons for older children or keep them simple for the little ones. If you even want to take it a step further, you can do one topic from the book one week and a variation of it from one of our lessons here on the FHE Web site. That would give you TWO YEARS of Family Home Evening lessons building on the principles we all need to learn and review often!
The goal is getting families to hold weekly Family Home Evenings and giving you some incredible tools to be successful in doing so!
A HUGE thanks to Covenant Communications in providing FOUR copies of the THIS BOOK to be given away to four of our readers! The books include the CD-ROM, too!

Protect Your Home & Property
"Protecting Your Home and Property"Purpose: We are counseled often to be prepared with having food storage as well as money set aside for a rainy day. But what happens when a sudden storm or fire destroys all that we have? This lesson will help us make further preparations in protecting our home and property.
Scripture: Doc. & Cov. 38:30
Song: "The Lord is My Light"
Lesson: Throughout the scriptures there are countless stories of those that chose to be prepared, rather than fear. From early on, we learn of Noah. This prophet constructed an entire ark without it even raining one drop. There is likewise terrible destruction on the Western Hemisphere as recorded in the Book of Mormon at the time of Jesus' death.
Prophets have always warned of the calamities that have come and those that are yet to come.
Does our Heavenly Father want His children to live in fear? No!
President Gordan B. Hinckley said, "We can so live that we can call upon the Lord for His protection and guidance. This is a first priority. We cannot expect His help if we are unwilling to keep His commandments. We in this Church have evidence enough of the penalties of disobedience in the examples of both the Jaredite and the Nephite nations. Each went from glory to utter destruction because of wickedness."
Being prepared both spiritually and temporally helps us to show obedience to our Father in Heaven.
Discussion:
1. How are you or your family showing that you are temporally prepared?
2. What calamities have you seen in the world in the past 4-5 years?
3. How can you or your family start preparing your homes to be more prepared in the event of a disaster (fire, flood, earthquake, theft, etc?)
? Do you have the proper insurance to cover you, your home or your property? Even those that don't own homes or have families-- most likely still have property that should be protected by insurance. Add up to basic costs of the items in your home and you'll be surprised about how much money it would take to have to replace all of that if lost in a fire, flood, theft if they were not insured.
